Two prominent healthcare tech companies, Aledade and Rad AI, have bolstered their leadership teams with seasoned professionals to drive AI integration and innovation.
Aledade, a leading value-based care platform, has appointed Darren Thayne as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and Josh C. Mandel, M.D., as Chief Scientist. Both bring extensive experience in enterprise-scale technology and open data standards, which will be crucial for Aledade’s mission to integrate advanced AI into its healthcare solutions.
Thayne joins Aledade from Domo, where he spent 15 years leading the company's technology team. His roles included founding technology leader, CTO, and Executive Vice President of Product. At Domo, Thayne was instrumental in developing and deploying AI-based tools that significantly enhanced customer experience. His expertise will be pivotal in scaling Aledade’s AI infrastructure to support its growing network of healthcare providers.
Dr. Mandel, a physician and software engineer, comes from Microsoft Research, where he played a key role in building open standards such as FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources). His work at Aledade will focus on external interoperability, data exchange efforts, and AI strategy. Dr. Mandel’s dual background in clinical practice and technology development makes him uniquely suited to bridge the gap between healthcare needs and technological solutions.
“AI raises the stakes on that alignment. Deployed inside fee-for-service, it accelerates billing. Deployed inside our value-based care model, it accelerates health,” said Farzad Mostashari, M.D., co-founder and CEO of Aledade. “Darren and Josh have built infrastructure and open standards at national scale, and they're joining us to make sure that the value created by AI in healthcare flows to patients and practices.”
Rad AI, a company specializing in AI-native radiology workflow platforms, has also made a significant leadership appointment. Leonard Law will join the company as Chief Product Officer (CPO). This move comes at a pivotal moment for the radiology reporting market, as health systems and radiology practices transition from legacy software to more advanced, AI-driven solutions.

Law’s background is impressive, having served as CPO at Primer, an enterprise AI platform. Prior to that, he was head of product at Coinbase and spent nearly a decade at Google Cloud and YouTube. His experience in building scalable AI products will be crucial for Rad AI as it continues to innovate and expand its offerings.
“Leonard’s appointment underscores our commitment to leading the radiology industry into the future,” said Mike Karafin, CEO of Rad AI. “His expertise in product development and AI will help us deliver solutions that not only improve workflow efficiency but also enhance patient care.”
The strategic hires at Aledade and Rad AI signal a significant shift towards more advanced, AI-driven solutions in the healthcare industry. As these companies continue to innovate, they are setting the stage for a future where technology plays a central role in improving patient outcomes and operational efficiency.

A stint at a compute research lab sharpened his instinct for what actually matters in a model release versus what is marketing. He is allergic to hype and instinctively drawn to the unglamorous plumbing questions that everyone else skips over.
