Healthcare tech leader Cedar introduces Kora, an agentic AI platform designed to simplify and automate medical billing processes, enhancing patient experience and financial outcomes.
Cedar, a leading patient financial management platform for healthcare providers, has launched Kora Platform, a suite of purpose-built agentic artificial intelligence (AI) agents aimed at streamlining medical billing. The platform integrates seamlessly with existing electronic health records (EHRs), telephony systems, and call centers to provide autonomous voice interactions, two-way text messaging, and advanced reporting capabilities.
Dugan Winkie, Cedar’s Chief Strategy Officer, emphasized the platform's role as a patient advocate: “We really want Kora Platform to be this agentic advocate that's sitting in the pocket of every patient.” The AI agents adapt in real time to predict patients' needs and trigger the optimal next financial action, ensuring a seamless and personalized experience.
Kora Platform offers several key features:
Winkie highlighted that Kora’s automated inbound calling has managed over 600,000 patient conversations. The platform also boasts a 21% relative payment rate within seven days of outreach, demonstrating its effectiveness in accelerating payments.

The platform's success is underpinned by Cedar’s extensive data and experience. Winkie noted that Cedar has processed 1.5 billion individual payments across 50 million unique financial journeys, creating a robust patient behavior ledger that drives the personalization engine.
Cedar’s launch of Kora Platform comes at a critical time for healthcare billing. The One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA) and the growing number of uninsured patients have increased the complexity of navigating medical bills. Winkie pointed out a 40% increase in uninsured self-pay dollars, making it essential to provide clear and accessible financial guidance.
The platform’s ability to adapt and carry context across conversations is particularly valuable. By remembering past interactions, Kora ensures that patients do not need to repeat information, reducing frustration and improving efficiency.
As healthcare organizations continue to adopt AI solutions, Kora Platform stands out for its comprehensive approach to patient financial management. Its real-time adaptation and personalized service could set a new standard in the industry, making it a solution worth watching for both providers and patients.
