OpenAI, meanwhile, has committed $1 billion toward cyberdefense efforts amid growing scrutiny of AI safety. Capital commitments of this size, across multiple companies and use cases, point to an infrastructure buildout that is broadening rather than concentrating in a handful of names. That's relevant for anyone assessing whether Crusoe's valuation reflects company-specific strength or sector-wide momentum that could just as easily lift a dozen competitors.
There's also a financing question underneath all of this. Data center buildouts of the scale Crusoe is pursuing require enormous capital expenditure well ahead of revenue realization.
