As we expand our capabilities with cutting-edge but resource-heavy AI models, certain features will be exclusive to Pro subscribers or come at an extra cost, reflecting the high computational demands involved.
Over the next few weeks, we're rolling out a series of new compute-intensive offerings from our team. These updates are designed to push the boundaries of what's possible with today's models, but they come with significant computational costs. As a result, some features will initially be available only to Pro subscribers, while others may incur additional fees.
The new offerings leverage advanced machine learning models that require substantial compute resources. Here’s a breakdown of the key changes:
Advanced Models: The updates introduce more sophisticated neural architectures (think transformers with billions of parameters) that can handle complex tasks like real-time video analysis, high-fidelity audio processing, and large-scale natural language understanding.
Compute Infrastructure: We've upgraded our backend infrastructure to support these advanced models. This includes:
Cost Strategy: Given the high computational costs, we're initially restricting access to Pro subscribers. This approach allows us to:
Here are some of the new offerings you can expect:

High-Fidelity Audio Processing: This tool can enhance audio quality, remove background noise, and perform speech-to-text transcription with high accuracy.
Large-Scale NLP Models: These models can generate human-like text, summarize documents, and perform complex language tasks.
While the initial rollout is focused on Pro subscribers, our long-term goal is to drive down the cost of these compute-intensive features. We believe that over time, we can make advanced AI capabilities more widely available:
Cost Reduction: By optimizing our models and infrastructure, we aim to reduce the computational costs. This includes:
Wider Availability: As costs come down, we plan to make these features available to all users. Our goal is to democratize access to advanced AI tools.
These new compute-intensive offerings represent a significant step forward in our mission to push the boundaries of what's possible with AI. While they come with higher costs initially, we are committed to making them more accessible over time. Stay tuned for updates as we continue to roll out these exciting features.

About the author
Kai built ML infrastructure at a Bay Area startup before developing an obsession with transformer architectures and inference optimisation that eventually pulled him out of product work entirely. A stint at a compute research lab sharpened his instinct for what actually matters in a model release versus what is marketing. He writes from the inside — from the perspective of someone who has debugged the systems he is describing at three in the morning. He is allergic to hype and instinctively drawn to the unglamorous plumbing questions that everyone else skips over.
