Zoo Dev's Text-to-CAD tool revolutionizes 3D modeling by converting natural language into precise CAD designs using B-Rep surfaces, offering unprecedented accuracy and versatility in digital design.
December 18, 2023
Today, Zoo Dev is thrilled to introduce Text-to-CAD (available at app.zoo.dev), an innovative tool that bridges the gap between natural language and 3D CAD modeling. This alpha launch aims to gather user feedback and refine the underlying model, making it more robust and versatile.
Text-to-CAD is a significant leap from existing text-to-3D models, which typically generate meshes or point clouds. Instead, Text-to-CAD generates B-Rep (Boundary Representation) surfaces. This distinction is crucial because B-Rep surfaces allow for precise geometric definitions and are fully editable in any CAD software.

Zoo Dev encourages users to experiment with different prompts and provide feedback using the thumbs up and down buttons within the app. This community-driven approach will help identify both successful and problematic prompts, allowing Zoo Dev to continuously improve the model.
Here are some fun models generated by Text-to-CAD:
To start using Text-to-CAD, simply head over to app.zoo.dev. Generate your model, download the STEP file, and import it into your preferred CAD software. For those interested in the future enhancements, keep an eye on the Modeling App 1.0 roadmap available on their GitHub.
Text-to-CAD represents a significant advancement in 3D modeling by leveraging natural language to generate precise, editable B-Rep surfaces. This tool has the potential to streamline design processes and democratize access to CAD modeling for both professionals and enthusiasts.
