In a bold move, Nvidia is teaming up with major asset managers to create a financing platform that treats AI compute infrastructure as an investable asset.
Nvidia has announced a massive $500 billion financing push in collaboration with six of the world’s largest asset managers. The chipmaker signed memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with Apollo Global Management, Blackstone, BlackRock, Brookfield Asset Management, Goldman Sachs, and KKR to establish financing platforms for Nvidia's customers. This initiative aims to mobilize third-party capital to build out data centers and acquire Nvidia hardware, effectively treating compute infrastructure as an investable asset.
The effort is a strategic move by Nvidia to accelerate the adoption of AI technologies across hyperscalers, frontier AI labs, and enterprises. By making it easier for these organizations to finance their AI projects, Nvidia hopes to create a more robust ecosystem that drives innovation and growth in the AI sector.
During a rare joint interview with CNBC’s Becky Quick, executives from the seven companies discussed the announcement. They emphasized the potential of this partnership to transform how AI infrastructure is funded and managed. By treating compute resources as an asset class similar to commercial real estate or toll roads, these platforms aim to provide a stable and scalable funding model for AI projects.
The collaboration between Nvidia and these asset managers is a clear indication of the growing importance of AI in various sectors.
