OpenAI’s latest update integrates Apple Health and medical records into ChatGPT, offering a personalized health assistant that helps users navigate their medical data more effectively.
OpenAI has announced the launch of Health in ChatGPT, a new feature designed to help U.S. Users better understand and manage their health information. This integration allows users to securely connect their Apple Health data and supported medical records to ChatGPT, enabling the AI assistant to provide personalized insights and support. The update builds on feedback from early testers and aims to make navigating complex health data more accessible.
Every week, over 300 million people turn to ChatGPT with health-related questions, ranging from interpreting lab results to preparing for medical appointments. However, much of this information is often scattered across various patient portals, medical records, apps, and wearables, making it challenging to get a comprehensive view of one's health. With Health in ChatGPT, users can now connect their data to get a more holistic understanding.
The most useful part has been turning scattered medical history into something I can actually understand and explain. I have multiple overlapping issues, and ChatGPT helped connect those pieces into a clear timeline, explain the medical terms in plain English, and create summaries I could share with a physical therapist or trainer. This has helped me feel less lost in my own health history.
Health in ChatGPT is built on OpenAI’s latest advancements in natural language processing (NLP) and data privacy. Here are some technical details:
OpenAI is rolling out Health in ChatGPT to logged-in users 18 and older in the U.S. On web and iOS across Free, Go, Plus, and Pro plans. To get started, open the Health feature from the sidebar in ChatGPT. Note that this feature is not yet available in Codex.
This launch represents a significant step forward in using AI to support health management. By providing a more integrated and personalized experience, OpenAI aims to help users feel more informed and empowered about their health while ensuring that medical professionals remain central to care decisions.
