A new AI platform is revolutionizing surgical documentation by automatically generating procedural coding and reports from video data, streamlining workflows and enhancing accuracy.
Uncovr, a surgical artificial intelligence company, has secured $7 million in seed funding for its innovative platform that analyzes surgical videos to generate procedural coding and clinical documentation. The round was led by Index Ventures, with participation from Seedcamp, Frst, No Labels Ventures, and Entrepreneurs First. Notable individual investors include Jean Nehme (Founder of Digital Surgery), Othman Laraki (CEO of Color Health), and Charlie Songhurst (Meta Board Member).
Launched in 2025 by Ines Iraki, Johann Diep, and Eric Vibert, M.D., Ph.D., Uncovr tackles the cumbersome task of surgical documentation head-on. Traditional methods often require surgeons to dictate notes outside their natural workflow, leading to delays and potential inaccuracies. Uncovr's solution captures "ground truth" data directly from surgical videos and intraoperative workflows.
"Ines, Eric, and Johann have done something rare: earned adoption inside one of healthcare’s hardest environments and moved incredibly fast once inside," said Martin Mignot, Index Ventures partner. "By structuring what happens in the OR, Uncovr is building a highly valuable dataset for surgical AI."

Uncovr has already partnered with leading hospitals across the U.S. And Europe, representing over 400 operating rooms. This extensive network allows the company to gather a vast amount of data, further refining its algorithms and ensuring robust performance.
Iraki emphasized the importance of capturing ground truth data. "Unlike ambient scribing companies that require surgeons to dictate their notes outside the flow of care, we focus on capturing the ground truth-surgical videos. This approach ensures the most comprehensive notes and the highest level of coding accuracy."
Uncovr's approach not only streamlines the documentation process but also enhances accuracy and completeness. As AI continues to play a more significant role in healthcare, platforms like Uncovr are setting new standards for efficiency and precision in surgical workflows.
