UnityAI's StaffOps uses real-time patient data to automate healthcare staffing, reducing cancellations and improving efficiency in clinical settings across 120 sites.
Nashville-based health tech startup UnityAI has developed an agentic AI platform called StaffOps to optimize day-to-day staff scheduling and dynamically match it with real-time patient demand. This innovative solution is already live in approximately 120 sites of care, supporting workforce scheduling across a growing network of clinical organizations.
UnityAI was founded in 2023 with a strategic focus on healthcare operations. The company initially developed specialized agents to assist with patient scheduling and related tasks. According to Edmund Jackson, co-founder and CEO, these early efforts were aimed at optimizing the "supply side" of healthcare-getting patients scheduled where they should be.
However, Jackson recognized that this was only half the battle. The other critical aspect is managing the clinical workforce effectively. He explained:
"What we're trying to do is create excellent schedules; that's our North Star. Our belief is that what providers bring to the market is time for a patient in a place with a clinician, and if you get that right, everything else happens."
The StaffOps platform addresses the challenge of matching staffing operations with patient demand. This involves not just clinicians but also clinical techs and other staff members. The goal is to ensure that all necessary personnel are in the right place at the right time to meet patient needs.

Jackson emphasized the importance of integrating patient access and experience with staffing operations:
"Patient access and patient experience need to be matched with staffing operations, not addressed as separate functions. This holistic approach ensures a more efficient and effective healthcare delivery system."
UnityAI continues to refine and expand its agentic AI capabilities. Jackson hinted at future enhancements:
"We are constantly iterating and adding new features to make our platform even more effective. Our ultimate goal is to create a seamless and efficient healthcare environment where both patients and providers benefit."
UnityAI's StaffOps platform represents a significant step forward in healthcare operations management. By leveraging agentic AI, the platform addresses the complex challenges of staffing and scheduling, ultimately leading to better patient care and operational efficiency.
